Organizational Assessments & Team Building

Your team is no longer "gelling". There's bickering and mistrust. Team members are competing rather than collaborating. People seem confused and frustrated. Productivity and morale are low. Infighting and factions have developed! It's taking longer and longer to accomplish tasks. Team members seem to be just clocking in and clocking out! You're afraid some of your best team members will resign soon. People are withholding information and behaving less than respectfully to one another. It feels like such a mess and you're not sure what to do to get everything back on track...

If you can identify your team with any of these statements, your team may benefit from conducting an organizational assessment and team building to improve team effectiveness.

Organizational assessments evaluate the "health" of a team or organization, i.e. how effectively a team or larger organization is able to perform its mission. The goal of an organizational assessment is to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of a team/organization in the areas of communications, structure, processes, leadership etc. Based on the data that the organizational assessment generates, a strategy is created for moving the team forward in a planful, constructive way.

What clients say

"The preparatory interviews Sara conducted surfaced the real, important issues we face. She provided good news, not so good news, and helped us develop an action plan to handle all. Her poise, confidence, and her energy were contagious. She held thought provoking discussions that we are still discussing." (Manager, Consulting Firm)

"The change in peoples' motivation and excitement levels around the office is palpable." (Owner, Software Company)

My process for conducting an organizational assessment is as follows:

My organizational assessment process
  1. Meet with team or organization leader to discuss challenges currently facing the organization and the desired outcomes
  2. Gather data from team leadership and team members through a survey, data gathering interviews or focus groups
  3. Analyze data, identify themes, and create report to give to team leadership. Conduct feedback session with team leadership
  4. Design and implement tailored program(s) to address needs identified through organizational assessment. Conduct action planning. Evaluate results

As a result of the organizational assessment, I will deliver the feedback from team members to the team's leadership and work with the team leaders to create a strategy for moving forward. That comprehensive strategy may include a transition plan, team building session, tailored workshop, leadership development program, one-on-one coaching for team leaders etc., i.e. whatever the optimal solution is for addressing the team's needs.
