EMPLOYMENT HISTORY:

Independent Consultant (2004 - Present)
To seek more work-life balance and refocus on organization development work and leadership coaching, Sara left Booz Allen Hamilton in 2004 and established her own consulting practice.

Since April 2004 Sara has:

  • Consulted with corporations, professional services firms and schools facing attrition, depleting team dynamics, ineffective management styles, conflict, and transition management issues. Designed and facilitated team development sessions, ongoing team effectiveness programs and retreats to resolve the underlying issues. Results included: increased management effectiveness and productivity, clear roles and responsibilities, a new and improved teaming structure, less conflict and attrition, and more effective team dynamics
  • Led the design of a new college-accredited Intelligence Analyst Certificate Program for Booz Allen – the program has resulted in additional intelligence analysis business for Booz Allen
  • Facilitated "whole system" strategic planning for a non profit organization. Worked with the CEO to develop a plan of action for moving forward with her leadership team and Board
  • Delivered an interactive 2 hour stress management seminar and a 4 hour experiential workshop on transitions and cultural differences in relocation to national audiences
  • Designed a new one day team leadership program and a one day strategic thinking workshop
  • Created a cost effective group coaching model to develop high potential leaders over time
  • Designed diversity awareness modules as part of a comprehensive culture change campaign

Sara continues to:

  • Coach clients in corporate and government leadership and World Bank team leader positions
  • Facilitate Leadership, Management and Diversity classes for Booz Allen Hamilton

Performance Consultant - Booz Allen Hamilton, McLean VA (2001 - 2004)
As an internal consultant working for Booz Allen’s Organization Development and Training Department, Sara’s team supported as many as 10 Vice Presidents and their leadership teams.

Responsibilities Included:

  • Conducted organizational assessments through data gathering interviews, focus groups and web-based surveys; analyzed the resulting data; conducted feedback sessions with team leaders; created and facilitated team-building, tailored training and strategic planning sessions to address the needs identified in the data for teams ranging from 15 - 300 people
  • Led the design of Booz Allen’s management training program and feedback workshop
  • Facilitated training in the areas of leadership, management, interpersonal effectiveness, diversity, consulting skills, and feedback to staff of all levels in the US and internationally
  • Served on firm-wide task forces implementing initiatives for front-line leadership and staff development and on large business segment projects addressing functional skills gaps. Several of these projects resulted in national ASTD awards for Booz Allen

Finance Manager - Booz Allen Hamilton, McLean VA (1998 - 2001)
I was hired into the Finance Department of Booz Allen as an Internal Communications Consultant during a period of high change related to the automation of previously manual financial processes. After one year I was promoted to Finance Customer Service Manager.

Responsibilities Included:

  • Created and managed a 7 person customer service team mandated to streamline Booz Allen payment processes, identify communications gaps, educate Booz Allen staff and vendors and problem solve finance payment issues. Sara's team effectively resolved more than 25,000 payment related issues valued at $97M p.a. while maintaining a zero turnover rate
  • Led the change management, marketing, communications, training, customer service for, and the roll-out of new enterprise-wide on-line financial systems to 6,700 Booz Allen staff
  • Led the 16 member team to design and implement Booz Allen's new Finance web pages - project was completed within 3 months
  • Facilitated the Booz Allen new hire immersion program and strategic planning sessions
  • Participated in a firm-wide travel cost analysis project that identified more than $7M in travel savings for Booz Allen

International Representative, Government Affairs - Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Washington DC (1994 - 1998)
I supported Westinghouse business and political interests in the conventional and nuclear power generation industries and managed the Westinghouse Political Action Committee.

Responsibilities Included:

  • Protected $51M in funding for international nuclear safety through intense lobbying efforts. Researched, tracked and reported legislation of vital significance to Westinghouse
  • Obtained critical US government support for Westinghouse international power projects. Coordinated successful national grassroots campaign for nuclear cooperation agreements
  • Coordinated Westinghouse Political Action Committee (PAC) efforts, increasing PAC receipts by 26% and employee participation by 15% in one year
